Utah State picked up a verbal commitment this afternoon from Waxahachie High (TX) wide receiver/cornerback Keith Abney. Abney is a 5 foot 11 170-pound senior and will join the Aggies for the 2023 season. As a junior last season, Abney played in 9 games, catching 20 passes for 393 yards and two touchdowns, while also contributing 12 tackles, one pass breakup, and one interception on the defensive side of the ball. Abney also had offers from Air Force, Army, Boston College, Colorado State, Columbia, Fordham, Houston Baptist, Kansas State, Louisiana Tech, Navy, Northern Arizona, Pittsburgh, Rice, and Texas Southern. Abney kicks off his 2023 senior campaign on August 26th versus Ennis High out of Ennis, Texas.
