Utah State has received a verbal commitment from North Shore High School (TX) quarterback Kaleb Maryland. Maryland is 6-foot-0, 180 pounds. Maryland is expected to sign in December and enroll at Utah State in January in order to join the Aggies for the 2026 spring ball session. Maryland officially visited the Utah State campus over the weekend of June 13th through the 15th.
Maryland has that IT factor. He’s a legit dual threat, who can attack a defense in the air or on the ground. He is an intelligent quarterback who understands the game. He has good throwing mechanics and consistent arm movement on his throws. His throws are on a rope, tight and accurate. His excellent rotational spin on the ball and throw location allow him to have good anticipation and timing with his receivers’ routes. He has a tight trajectory on throws made downfield, and his arm strength gives his throws high velocity in all areas of the field. He works best while on the go, and he’s very difficult to contain. He is extremely dangerous on the run. He is elusive with breakaway speed. Thanks to his dangerous arm and elite speed, he can attack opposing defenses at every level of the field.
As a junior last season with the Mustangs, Maryland was part of a quarterback-by-committee approach, playing in 14 games and completing 46 of 60 passes (76.7%) for 688 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He is also a weapon, with his legs carrying the ball 55 times for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns. His squad finished with a record of 14-1 and a trip to the Texas State Playoffs 6A D1 semi-finals.
According to On3 Sports, Maryland is rated as the 1,664th-best player nationally, the 106th-best quarterback, and the 222nd-best player in Texas. Maryland chose the Aggies over offers from Jackson State, Lafayette, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Marshall, Oklahoma Baptist, Prairie View A&M, Southern Mississippi, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio, UNLV, utah, UTEP, and Washington State.
Maryland becomes the twelfth commitment for the Aggies recruiting class of 2026, joining Canyon High (TX) running back Jackson Regan, Episcopal High (VA) defensive tackle Curtis “Tiki” Bell, Mountain View High (AZ) quarterback Brady Goodman, Thunder Ridge High (CO) tight end Preston McDaniel, Grandview High (CO) linebacker Brody Flores, Katy High (TX) wide receiver Cade McCall, Ridgeline High (UT) offensive lineman Easton Hammond, and Bingham High (UT) offensive lineman Lucas Neidig, Green Canyon High (UT) offensive lineman Like Baker, Clovis East High (CA) cornerback O’Shea Webb, and Copiah-Lincoln Community College (MS) outside linebacker Archie Chambers.
