The Aggies battled all four quarters and eventually came away with a hard-fought win over the San Jose State University Spartans, 30-25. Now it’s time to hand out this week’s game balls.
My offensive game ball will go to senior quarterback Bryson Barnes. Barnes put on a solid performance Friday night, completing 22 of his 31 passes (71%) for 326 yards and a touchdown, while also toting the rock 16 times for 54 yards and another touchdown. He also hauled in a short 5-yard pass reception on a trick play. Barnes showed off his sound decision-making skills in the run/pass option game, completing passes to seven different receivers.
My defensive game ball this week will go to junior inside linebacker Bronson Olevao. Olevao pulled down 5 solo tackles and was in on 9 assisted tackles to post a game high 14 total tackles on the night. Olevao also scooped a Noah Avinger forced fumble, returning it 20 yards.
My special teams game ball will go to junior Tanner Rinker. Rinker came up HUGE in the kicking game, knocking down all three of his field goal attempts from 31, 44, and 45 yards out and hitting all three of his PATs.
