The Aggies suffered a tough 14-33 road setback against the University of New Mexico Lobos. Now it’s time to hand out this week’s game balls.
My offensive game ball will go to senior running back Miles Davis. Davis led the team in rushing yardage, toting the rock 10 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. His long carry of the night went for 64 yards. He also added 2 receptions for 3 yards. Davis now has 85 carries for a team-leading 576 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
I will also add a second offensive game ball this week; this one will go to junior wide receiver Braden Pegan. Pegan led the team in receptions by hauling in 5 receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown. Pegan’s scoring reception covered 13 yards, and his long reception of the night went for 54 yards. Pegan now leads the team in three categories: 39 receptions for 654 yards and five touchdowns.
My defensive game ball will go to sophomore boundary safety Brevin Hamblin. Hamblin led the team in tackles with 11, collecting 5 solo tackles and was in on 6 assisted tackles. He also broke up a pass. Hamblin now has 61 tackles, 6 pass breakups.
My special teams game ball will go to sophomore punter Landon Rehkow. Rehkow booted the ball 6 times for an average of 44.0 yards per punt, with a long of 54 yards. One of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line, and he also had 2 punts of 50+ yards. Rehkow has now booted the ball 43 times for an average of 43.5 yards per punt, with a long of 61 yards. Fourteen of his punts have landed inside the 20-yard line, and he has 13 punts of 50+ yards on the season.
