Utah State has received a verbal commitment from Texas Tech University safety Chapman Lewis. Lewis is 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, and will join the Aggies in time for spring ball and have two years of eligibility remaining.

Lewis chose to redshirt the 2025 season, but as a sophomore with the Red Raiders in 2024, he started in 11 games and racked up 43 tackles, 1.0 tackles-for-loss, 3 interceptions, 6 pass breakups, and 1 fumble recovery.

According to On3sports, Lewis is rated as the 786th-best transfer portal player nationally and the 60th-best safety.

Following the December 3rd early signing period, Lewis becomes the fourteenth transfer portal commitment and the thirty-fourth signing/commitment for the Aggies recruiting class of 2026, joining Bishop Gorman HS (NV) wide receiver Kaina Watson, New Mexico State defensive tackle Ta’avili Tuitama, University of Saint Thomas (MN) EDGE rush defensive end Jordan Pendleton, Wyoming cornerback Markie Grant, Oklahoma State University safety David “DK” Kabongo, byu quarterback McCae Hillstead, Oklahoma State University offensive lineman Matt “Chewy” Wade, byu cornerback Marcus McKenzie, Mississippi Valley State EDGE rush defensive end Adonis Jackson, University of Arizona wide receiver Rex Haynes, Purdue University offensive lineman John Randle Jr., William and Mary University offensive lineman Kadin Lynch, Coastal Carolina kicker Kian Afrookhteh, James Campbell High (HI) offensive lineman Chantz Chargualaf, and The Citadel outside linebacker Jeremiah Holmes, as post-early signing period additions.
