2025 OUTLOOK

LEFT TACKLE

TREY ANDERSEN
Senior Trey Andersen is working hard to lock down the starting gig at this position.

Last season Andersen saw action in 10 games with 2 starts. He logged 185 snaps and recorded 8 pancake blocks.

During his 4-year career at Utah State and the University of Pittsburgh, he has played in 31 games with 2 starts.

According to 247sports, coming out of Lehi High School (UT), Andersen was rated as the 2,188th-best player nationally, the 75th-best tight end, and the 16th-best player in Utah. He originally held offers from byu, Eastern Washington, Montana State-Northern, Pittsburgh, and Weber State. He chose the Aggies just 24 hours after entering the transfer portal.

Thanks to his days as a tight end, Andersen is extremely athletic for his position. He moves around with ease and is able to match the speed of opposing defensive linemen. His tenacious mentality gives him the ability to be a determined and capable blocker. That leads to him often doing whatever he can to take the defender out of the play. He gets his whole body into his blocks and drives opposing defenders out of the hole. Trey has major college experience, which should help the Aggies immediately.

CAMDEN JURY
Redshirt freshman Camden Jury will spend fall camp gaining valuable experience to help the Aggies in the near future.

In his first season at Utah State, Jury sat out the season while utilizing his redshirt season.

During the final two seasons of his high school career, he started 23 games. For his consistent effort as a senior, he earned an Arizona 6A Premier Region first-team selection.

According to 247sports, coming out of Casteel High School (AZ), Jury was rated as the 1,909th-best player nationally, the 151st-best offensive tackle, and the 41st-best player in Arizona. He chose the Aggies over offers from Augustana, Middle Tennessee State, and a preferred walk-on offer from Arizona State.

Jury is a massive kid for his age. He displays nimble footwork and he is surprisingly light on his feet. His mobility helps him negate the pass rush from opposing defensive players. He has the size and ability to anchor the offensive line for years to come, with his ability to road-grade the opposition in the run game. He knocks defenders off balance and uses his strength to win his one-on-one matchups.

SAM BROUSSEAU
True freshman Sam Brousseau will enter fall camp looking to hone his skills and improve individually as a player.

Brousseau played just one season of high school football, starting on the offensive line in all 11 games of his brief career.

According to 247sports, coming out of Murray High School (UT), Brousseau was rated as the 1,501st-best player nationally, the 109th-best offensive tackle, and the 19th-best player in Utah. The Aggies were his first offer, and he accepted not long after making his official visit to campus.

Brousseau is a towering dude who uses his size and strength to win his matchups. He uses his good footwork to keep pace with opposing edge rushers. He has shown the ability to square up nicely to attack players from the side where they can’t combat him. He has already shown that he can be dominant as a run-blocker and take opposing defenders completely out of the play. He spent the majority of his high school career as a standout basketball player. His dual-sport ability has the coaching staff drooling as he oozes raw unrefined potential.

ADAM POND
Adding depth to the position will be junior preferred walk-on, Adam Pond.

Last season Pond saw action in 4 games.

During his 3-year career at Utah State, he has played in 4 games.

During his 3-year career at Skyridge High (UT), Pond played in 37 games with 37 starts and earned all-region honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman.

Pond originally signed with Southern Utah University. He had a change of heart and joined the Aggies once he returned from serving a church mission.

Pond is an athletic big man out on the field. He is very mobile and that allows him to keep himself upright and kick out opposing edge rushers. He isn’t shy about throwing would-be defenders to the ground if they try to engage him. His mobility lets him be used to pull from one side to the other and lead a sweep. He has a mean streak that will serve him well at the collegiate level.

RIGHT TACKLE

JAKE EICHORN
Jake Eichorn is a transfer from the byu who will enter the 2025 season as a senior and will use his final season of eligibility in 2025.

Last season, Eichorn saw action in 9 games with the cougars.

During his 4-year career at byu and Weber State, Eichhorn has played in 22 games with 12 starts.

According to On3 Sports, Eichorn was rated as the 1,603rd-best transfer portal player in the country and the 113th-best offensive tackle in the transfer portal. Coming out of Beaver High School (UT), he originally signed with Weber State.

Eichorn is a technician, once the ball is snapped he wastes no time immediately working to execute his assignment. His excellent lower body strength helps him drive opposing defensive linemen backward. Once he engages in a block he stays with the defensive players and battles until the whistle is blown. His mobility and footwork are agile enough that he can get into the second level of the defense and impact the running game there as well.

JR SIA
Once fall camp begins, sophomore JR Sia will be looking to prove that the number two spot belongs to him.

During his 2-year career at Utah State Sia redshirted his first season and missed last season with a broken foot. He will receive an extra medical redshirt for missing the 2024 season.

According to 247sports, coming out of Mountain Ridge High School (UT), Sia was rated as the 1,111th-best player nationally, the 85th-best interior offensive lineman, and the 10th-best player in Utah. He chose the Aggies over offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, utah, and Virginia.

Sia does a good job of gaining leverage on opponents and staying low to maximize his strength. He is an aggressive run-blocker burying his defender with pancake blocks. In pass protection, he does a good job moving backward while anticipating where defenders will try to attack him. This allows him to beat his defender to the spot. He is mobile enough to get out into the second level on his blocks. Sia is versatile enough that he could potentially play both tackle and guard for the Aggies.

JARED SMITH
True freshman Jared Smith will enter fall camp looking to move up the depth chart.

Last season as a high school senior, Smith was a starter on the offensive line in all 14 games.

During his 3-year high school career with the Knights, Smith was a starter on the offensive line in all 38 games.

According to 247sports, coming out of Lone Peak High School (UT), Smith was rated as the 2,343rd-best player nationally, 166th-best offensive tackle nationally, and the 33rd-best player in Utah. He chose the Aggies over offers from Idaho State, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, and Weber State.

Smith is very strong in the run game. He likes to bully opposing defenders, pushing them backward to open up big holes. His athleticism allows him to be a key blocker who can be reliably used to pull and open a hole with a full head of steam behind him. He has shown good footwork in pass protection and has the quickness to push opposing edge rushers beyond the play. He engages in his blocks with ferocity and loves to hand out pancake blocks.

JACKSON NELSON
Jackson Nelson is a transfer from the byu who will enter the 2025 season as a redshirt freshman with four years of eligibility remaining.

During his 1-year stint at byu, Nelson spent the season redshirting following his return from serving a church mission.

As a high school senior in 2022 at Salem Hills High School (UT), he started all 10 games as a quarterback, completing 149 of 263 passes for 1,608 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He was also a very accomplished basketball player. He originally held a preferred walk-on offer from byu.

Nelson is an intriguing player to me because he’s only been playing on the offensive line for one year. His upside is tremendous. With him being so new to the position, right tackle is the perfect spot for him to develop his game. He is a massive player who has surprising agility and can get low and deliver punishing blocks. This makes him a force in the run game. He has quickly learned to move his feet well, and this allows him to maintain a smooth drop-back in pass protection and match the angle of opposing pass rushers. His natural mobility will allow him to be used in multiple ways.
