2025 OUTLOOK

JAVEN JACOBS
Javen Jacobs is a transfer from the University of New Mexico who will enter the 2025 season as a junior with two years of remaining eligibility.

Last season, Jacobs saw action in 7 games during an injury-shortened season, getting 40 carries for 277 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also added value in the passing game, catching 17 passes for 130 and a touchdown.

During his 3-year career at New Mexico and Arizona State University, he has played in 22 games totaling 43 carries, 285 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

According to 247sports, coming out of Saguaro High (AZ), Jacobs was rated as the 1,670th-best player nationally, the 127th-best athlete, and the 26th-best prospect overall in Arizona. He originally held offers from Arizona State, Air Force, Army, Colorado, Colorado State, Idaho, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Portland State, and Yale. Once he entered the transfer portal, it appeared the Aggies were his intended destination.

Jacobs is a dynamic player who has a ton of versatility to his game. He can line up in the backfield, in the slot, or out wide, and his a threat no matter where he is on the field. His talents are best utilized in space, getting outside the tackles and blowing by defenders with his speed. He has nice vision on the field, finding the hole and bursting through for chunk yardage. He is a skilled route-runner and has solid hands. His crisp routes and good footwork leave him wide open to pick up big yardage running after the catch. I see Jacobs being one of the Aggies’ primary backs in 2025.

MILES DAVIS
Senior Miles Davis is a transfer from byu who will use his final season of eligibility in the 2025 season

Last season, Davis saw action in 8 games with 1 start and tallied 18 carries for 76 yards. He also caught 5 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.

During his 5-year career with the cougars he has played in 27 games with 1 start, totaling 90 carries for 468 yards, and 2 touchdowns. He also snagged 16 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.

According to 247sports, coming out of Las Vegas High (NV), Davis was rated as the 279th-best wide receiver nationally and the 13th-best prospect overall in Nevada. He originally held offers from byu and UNLV. Once he entered the transfer portal, it appeared the Aggies were his intended destination.

Davis’s calling card is his blazing speed. Once he gets out into the open field, he can get past the defense in a hurry. He has quick feet and nice field vision with the ball in his hands, and he always has an eye on the endzone. His explosiveness makes him a home run threat every time he touches the ball. He was originally recruited as a wide receiver, and those skills make him a well-rounded option in the offense. Much of the film I watched seemed like he was playing at a different speed than everybody else.

DERRICK JAMESON
Junior Derrick Jameson will be counted on to continue to provide the big-play punch that he supplied last season.

Last season, Jameson saw action in 4 games and carried the ball 15 times for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jameson did not see any action while attending Iowa Central Community College (IA). During his 2-year career at Maple Grove High (MN), he rushed for 1,944 yards and 28 touchdowns.

The Aggies were Jameson’s first and only scholarship offer, and he chose the Aggies just three weeks after being officially offered.

Jameson is a powerful runner who is a threat to break free for an explosive play every time he touches the ball. He has a low center of gravity and lower body strength, and those two traits alone allow him to constantly be fighting for extra yards to extend the play. He does a good job waiting for the running lanes to open up and then bursts quickly through them once he makes his cut. He possesses good speed in the open field and knows how to follow blockers or angle himself away from defenders.

NOAH WHITE
Adding depth to the position is true freshman preferred walk-on Noah White. White joined the Aggies in time for spring ball following his return from serving a church mission.

During his 3-year high school career at Ridgeline High (UT), he played in 28 games with 23 starts and totaled 433 carries for 3,077 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also hauled in 84 passes for 813 yards and 6 touchdowns.

If I had to choose one word to describe White as a running back, it would be electric. He has breakaway speed and is hard to bring down once he gets in the open field. He bounces off tackles and is rarely taken down by the first man. He possesses an array of jump, juke, and spin moves to evade opposing defenders. He hits holes with full force and gives maximum effort every single down. He can catch the ball out in space and is every bit as good at receiver as he is at running back. White had an impressive spring camp and may see some action during the 2025 season.

RAVIAN LARRY
True freshman Ravian Larry will battle for reps in fall camp.

Last season as a high school senior, Larry carried the ball 115 times for 672 yards and 10 touchdowns.

During his 3-year high school career, he played in 24 games, racking up 275 carries for 2,071 yards, and 26 touchdowns.

According to On3 Sports, coming out of Idabel High (OK), Larry was rated as the 2,083rd-best player nationally, the 156th-best running back, and the 33rd-best prospect overall in Oklahoma. He chose the Aggies over offers from Colorado, North Texas, Sam Houston State, SMU, and Texas-San Antonio.

Larry does most of his work between the tackles using his strong lower body to grind for yardage. He is skilled at absorbing contact and maintaining his balance, rolling off would-be tacklers, and falling forward for extra yardage. He displays a nice feel for the game and has good field vision, which allows him to find an opening at the line and burst through the trenches. However, don’t be fooled by his preference for a power game; once he hits the second level of the defense, he possesses the ability to break a run-off for a touchdown. Although he wasn’t used much in the passing game, he does have great hands out of the backfield. With three upperclassmen on the depth chart, I do expect him to redshirt the 2025 season.

NEHEMIAH WASHINGTON
True freshman Nehemiah Washington will battle for reps in fall camp.

Last year, during an injury-shortened season as a high school senior, Washington carried the ball 14 times for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns.

During his 2-year high school career, he played in 10 games carrying the ball 167 times for 1,262 yards, and 18 touchdowns.

According to 247sports, coming out of Decatur High (OK), Washington was rated as the 2,346th-best player nationally, 168th-best running back, and the 22nd-best prospect overall in Washington. He chose the Aggies over offers from Central Washington, Idaho (PWO), Minot State, and South Dakota State.

Washington is at his best going off tackle with a nice burst of speed as he turns the corner to blow by the defense. He has nice lateral agility that helps him tremendously to get to the edge. Once he gets out in the open and commits to a direction, he changes speed kicks into another gear, and becomes a threat to take it to the house. It will be a work in progress, but he can be a patient runner when he needs to be. He is a big play threat every time he touches the ball due to his ability to see the field, athleticism, and electric speed.

Missing his senior season with an injury really hurt Washington’s recruiting opportunities. I think the Aggies have a diamond in the rough waiting to be polished by Aggie Running Back Coach Kirk Garner. With three upperclassmen on the depth chart, I do expect him to redshirt the 2025 season.

TRE KOFE
Adding depth to the position is redshirt freshman preferred walk-on Tre Kofe.

Kofe spent the 2024 season as a member of the Aggie practice squad while redshirting.

During his 4-year high school career at Corner Canyon High (UT) and Hillcrest High (ID), he played in 42 games with 30 starts and totaled 376 carries for 2,928 yards and 31 touchdowns.

According to 247sports coming out of Corner Canyon High (UT), Kofe was rated as the 200th-best running back nationally, and the 68th-best prospect overall in Utah. He chose the Aggies over offers from Idaho, Idaho State, and La Verne.

Kofe is a great pick-up as an in-state walk-on. He sees the opening at the line of scrimmage very well. Once the hole opens up, he can make one cut and get into the second level of the defense quickly. He has respectable speed and is rarely caught from behind once he is in the open field. He is also a very capable pass catcher and could be a threat out of the backfield in that capacity as well.

CLYDE TAULAPAPA
True freshman preferred walk-on Clyde Taulapapa will add quality depth to the position.

Taulapapa joins the Aggies this season after returning from serving a church mission.

As a senior in 2023, Taulapapa saw action in just 6 games during an injury-shortened season, picking up 57 carries for 309 yards and 6 touchdowns.

During his 2-year high school career at Kahuku High (HI), he played in 16 games and totalled 122 carries for 637 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Taulapapa is a physical running back who is also blessed with quick feet and above-average lateral movement. He sees the opening at the line of scrimmage very well. Once the hole opens up, he can make one cut and get into the second level of the defense quickly. He loves to play power football; once he hits the hole, he has no problem blasting through arm tackles of opposing defenders or barreling over any defender who dares to step in his path.
