My offensive recruit of the week is going to go to Spring High (TX) quarterback Bishop Davenport. In destroying Aldine High (TX) 70-0, Bishop only played a half of football last week and hit 10 of his 11 passes for 178 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also added 1 carry for 12 yards.
Once again I am forced to hand out the defensive recruit of the week award to a trio of standout players this week.
My first defensive recruit of the week award is going to Liberty High (NV) safety Saco Alopifo. In a monster 49-7 win over Desert Pines High (NV), Saco raked in 8 tackles leading the way for the Patriots.
My second defensive recruit of the week will go to Christopher Columbus High (FL) cornerback Ken Moore Jr.. In a big 35-10 win over South Dade High (FL), Ken was credited with 3 tackles but he also hauled in 2 huge interceptions in the game, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
My third and final defensive recruit of the week is going to go Northridge High (UT) linebacker/quarterback Lofa Fonoti-Maikui. In a brutally close playoff loss to Bonneville High (UT), Lofa led the way defensively for the Knights racking up 10 tackles.
I will absolutely be giving out a dual-threat recruit of the week and that award will go to Tooele High (UT) linebacker/running back Mapa Vaenuku. In a gut wrenching 14-22 playoff loss to Box Elder High (UT), Mapa left it all out on the field amassing 15 tackles defensively, while breaking out for 133 yards and 1 touchdown on 17 carries on the offensive side of the ball.
