Xavier Williams 6’1″ 190 (4*) – Wide Receiver
Xavier is a player with a lot of hype, transferring in from the University of Alabama. He sat out the 2021 season with an undisclosed injury. Williams has a lot of potential as a deep threat, in large part due to his ability to gain separation on his routes and his success at 50/50 balls. He appears to have an extra gear after making the catch and is a threat to score every time he gets in the open field. He has a set of safe hands that can make up for inaccurate throws and the kind of body control that makes adjusting to any type of pass easier. He is a balanced, savvy route runner with top field awareness, setting up and selling routes beautifully. He can also be a factor in the return game thanks to his vision to see holes and follow blocks.
Brian Cobbs 6’2″ 210 (3*) – Wide Receiver
Brian is transferring in from the University of Maryland. In 2021, he caught 25 receptions for 341 yards and 1 touchdown. He is a dynamic player and has plus speed on every play. Cobbs outruns defenders easily, thanks to his speed and prolific route-running. He is a threat to score every time he touches the ball thanks to his vision on the field, superior speed, and resistance to being tackled He has the versatility to play outside and as a slot receiver. He has plenty of experience in a run-heavy offense. That experience paired with he size and strength should make him a valuable blocker in the run game.
Daniel Grzesiak 6’1″ 240 (3*) – EDGE
Daniel is a transfer coming over from in-conference for the University of Nevada. In 2021, he totaled 19 tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss, 5.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 2 QB hurries, 1 pass breakup, and 1 blocked kick. He was primarily a backup over the past few seasons but was still able to create havoc in the backfield with tackles for loss and deflecting passes. Grzesiak pushes off blocks to get to the quarterback or running back and regularly blows up plays before they can develop. He spends a lot of time in the backfield of opposing offenses. He explodes off the snap and plays with a high motor until the play is over.
MJ Tafisi 6’0″ 230 (3*) – Linebacker
MJ is transferring in from the University of Washington. In 2021, he recorded 20 tackles and 1 pass breakup. He is an aggressive, high-motor player with excellent instincts on the field. He can fly to the football, hit holes at full speed to meet blocks and ball carriers, and is a reliable tackler. He is equally skilled in rushing the passer, stopping the run, or dropping back into coverage thanks to his athleticism. He is a violent tackler who has the potential to make an impact on every single play.
Gurvan Hall 6’0″ 192 (4*) – Safety
Gurvan is transferring in from the University of Miami (FL). In 2021, he logged 31 tackles and 1.0 tackle-for-loss. Hall is a violent hitter, putting maximum force into his tackles to give receivers something to think about when trying to make a catch. He is a ballhawk down field, tracking the ball well in the air in order to make a play on the ball. He positions himself well pre-snap, making sure he is in the correct area to make a play on the ball. His athleticism gives him the opportunity to play a few different positions in the secondary.
