My offensive game ball will go to graduate senior wide receiver, Brian Cobbs. In a tough 55-0 loss to the University of Alabama, Cobbs was targeted four times and caught two passes for 33 yards, including a long reception of 23 yards, which was good enough for the Aggies first, first down of the night.
My defensive game ball will be going to redshirt freshman safety Ike Larsen. Ike came off the bench to make a huge contribution, leading the Aggies in tackles with seven, one QB hurry, and one interception that he returned 18 yards. For his effort, Larsen was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week.
I’ll be handing out two special teams game balls this week. The first one will be going to junior punter Stephen Kotsanlee. Kotsanlee was busy much of the evening as he booted the ball a career-high 10 times with a long punt of 60-yards, for an average of 38.3 yards per punt landing four inside the 20-yard line. He had three punts returned for a mere 20 yards.
My second special teams game ball is going to redshirt freshman safety Ike Larsen. Larsen was able to slip undetected through several blockers and block an Alabama punt attempt. Once the ball was recovered it game the Aggie offense some of its best field position of the night. For his effort, Larsen was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week.
