Utah State picked up a verbal commitment this morning from Independence Community College (KS) EDGE rush defensive end Maka Tu’akoi. Tu’akoi is a 6 foot 6 220-pound redshirt freshman and will join the Aggies for the 2023 season and will enroll in time for spring football. He will have three years of eligibility remaining. Tu’akoi currently has recorded 13 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss, and a fumble recovery through four games for the 1-3 Pirates. As a true freshman last season, he spent the season at Independence as a redshirt. Tu’akoi graduated from in-state at Alta High (UT). Tu’akoi held offers from Idaho State and Lincoln University. Tu’akoi will be in action again this Saturday when the Pirates take on Garden City Community College (KS) on the road.
