Utah State picked up a verbal commitment this morning from South Plains Community College (TX) center Kalifa Sakho. The Aggies expect Sakho to sign in the next seven days. He will have 3 years to complete his final two seasons of eligibility. Sakho is a 6 foot 11 220-pound high school senior and will be eligible to join the Aggies for the 2023-24 season. Sakho came to Logan on an official visit from October 28th to the 30th. As a true freshman at South Plains Community College (TX) last season. Sakho averaged 6.7 points per game while shooting 57.9% from the field and 52.1% at the free-throw line. He also pulled in 5.3 rebounds, handed out 0.4 assists, and swiped 0.3 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. For his effort last season, he was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman. At the time of his commitment, Sakho held offers from Alabama-Birmingham, Cal State-Bakersfield, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Florida International, Morgan State, St. Bonaventure, Weber State, Western Kentucky, Xavier.
