Utah State has signed College of San Mateo (CA) offensive lineman Jake Hellmann. Hellmann has been enrolled at Utah State since the beginning of the winter semester and has already been participating in off-season work. Hellmann is a towering 6 foot 6 295-pound junior and is the second College of San Mateo graduate to join the Aggies this semester joining fellow Bulldog Vaughn Mamea. He will have three years to complete his final two seasons of eligibility. Hellman was a starter in all 13 games for the Bulldogs during the 2022 season. He is the thirteenth junior college signing and the twenty-seventh overall signing for the Aggies during the 2023 recruiting cycle. At the time of his signing, Hellmann held offers from Black Hills State, Coastal Carolina, Lincoln University, New Mexico Highlands, Northwestern State, Pikeville College, and Robert Morris. Hellmann played his high school football here in the State of Utah at Weber High in Pleasant View. Hellmann wrapped up his career at the College of San Mateo by helping the Bulldogs go 12 and 1 and handily winning the CCCAA  Football State Championship over Riverside Community College (CA) 55-0.
