Utah State has received a verbal commitment from Independence Community College (KS) defensive tackle George Lauhingoa. Lauhingoa made his official visit to campus over the weekend of May 5th. Lauhingoa is a 6-foot-3 295-pound junior, who will join the Aggies in June for summer workouts. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining. During the 2022 season, he played in 7 games and tallied 13 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, and 1.5 sacks. According to 247sports, coming out of Kahuku High (HI), Lauhingoa was rated as the 124th-best defensive tackle in the country, and the 14th-best high school player in the State of Hawaii. He is cousins with current Aggies Hale and Tavo Motu’apuaka. Lauhingoa is the fourth off-season junior college signing for the Aggies joining City College of San Francisco (CA) defensive tackle Harold Brooks, Snow College (UT) running back Rahsul Faison, and Independence Community College (KS) cornerback Isaiah Hackett. At the time of his commitment, Lauhingoa had received an offer from New Mexico. I expect Lauhingoa to come in and compete immediately and add quality depth and experience to the defensive tackle spot.
