Utah State has received a verbal commitment from former byu running back Sione Finau. Finau made his announcement over his Instagram just over an hour ago. Finau is a 5-foot-11 185-pound junior, who will join the Aggies for fall camp in August. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining. During his career season at byu, Finau played in 21 games with two starts and carried the ball 71 times for 407 yards and two touchdowns. According to 247sports, coming out of Kearns High (UT), Finau was rated as the 1,528th-best player in the country, the 98th-best running back in the country, and the 23rd-best high school player in the State of Utah. He is the eighth transfer portal signing of the offseason, joining former Arizona State offensive tackle Ralph Frias, former Colorado cornerback Simeon Harris, former Bowling Green EDGE rush end Blaine Spires, former Wisconsin cornerback Al Ashford, former Oregon defensive tackle Sir Mells and former byu teammate linebacker Logan Pili. At the time of his commitment, it is unclear how many offers Finau had received, as he spent nearly 14 months in the transfer portal. Coming out of Kearns High, Finau originally committed to Oregon State before backing off following his LDS Church mission and eventually signing with byu. Finau is the fifth running back signing for the Aggies this offseason joining Cerritos Community College (CA) junior Davon Booth, Snow College (UT) junior Rahusl Faison, and two true freshmen in Steele High (TX) Jaydon Bailey and American Heritage High (FL) Reggie Foster.
