Utah State picked up a commitment Monday afternoon from Compass Prep (AZ) shooting guard Chris Cox. Cox is a 6 foot 8 185-pound senior and will join the Aggies for the 2024 season. The 2023-24 season will be his first and only season at Compass Prep. As a junior last season at Cottonwood HS (UT), Cox averaged 21.4 points per game while shooting 60.0 percent from the field, 45 percent from three-point range, and 64 percent from the free throw stripe. He also averaged 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.3 steals per game. At the time of his commitment, Cox held offers from Denver, Monmouth, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Santa Barbara, Southern Utah, and UC San Diego. Cox is a member of the Mountain Stars AAU basketball program. He is the fourth commitment for the class of 2024 for the Aggies, joining Lapwai High (ID) WING Kase Wynott, Roosevelt High (OR) point guard Terrence Hill Jr, and Olympus High (UT) point guard Jordy Barnes.
