Utah State picked up a verbal commitment this morning from Butler Community College (KS) EDGE rush end Marlin Dean. Dean is a 6-foot-6 245-pound redshirt freshman who will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. In 9 games for the Grizzlies this season Dean racked up 25 tackles, 10.0 tackles-for-loss, 7.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. Dean began his collegiate career at the University of Georgia where he logged 2 tackles as a true freshman. Before signing with Georgia, he had offers from a list of who’s-who of college football as Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Memphis,  Mississippi, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Penn State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and West Virginia all hoped to land his services. He will be joining the Aggies for the 2024 season and sign his letter of intent during the early signing period that begins December 20th. According to 247sports, he is rated as the 7th-best junior college player nationally, the 2nd-best junior college defensive lineman, and the number one junior college player in Georgia where he is originally from. Dean currently holds offers from Charlotte, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Memphis, North Texas, South Florida, Texas State, and Western Kentucky. Dean is the second junior college addition for the Aggies and the ninth commitment overall for the Aggies 2024 recruiting cycle, joining Hutchinson CC (KS) cornerback Mason Edwards. Casteel High (AZ) offensive lineman Camden Jury, Helix High (CA) quarterback Ryland Jessee, Lehi High (UT) tight end Grayson Brousseau, Corner Canyon High (UT) wide receiver Tate Kjar, Mater Dei High (CA) linebacker Tanner Williams, Mountain Ridge High (UT) offensive lineman Adam Hawkes, and dipping transfer portal to add former university of utah linebacker Jadon Pearson.
