The Aggies hit the jackpot Saturday afternoon and escaped Las Vegas with a last-second 87-86 win over the Runnin’ Rebels. Now it’s time to hand out two-game balls.
The first game ball is going to junior power forward Great Osobor. Osobor continued his conference dominance with a strong second half, tying for the team-high in scoring with 24 points while hitting 6 of 12 shots from the field, missing his lone 3-point attempt, and going a 12 of 13 from the free-throw line, including hitting the go-ahead free throws with 8.4 seconds remaining. He pulled down 4 offensive rebounds and 10 defensive boards for a total of 14 rebounds on the night. He also dished out 4 assists and swatted 2 shots.
The second game ball is going to senior shooting guard Ian Martinez. Martinez tied for the team-high in scoring 24 points while hitting 7 of 13 shots from the field, including knocking down 6 of 8 shots from beyond the 3-point arc and going a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. He pulled down 3 defensive boards for a total of 3 rebounds on the night. He also dished out 5 assists, swatted a shot, and swiped a steal.
The Aggies will now turn their attention to their fifth conference game of the season on Tuesday, January 16th when they invade The Pit in Albuquerque to take on the University of New Mexico Lobos who just handed #19 San Diego State a whooping Saturday afternoon.
