Utah State picked up a verbal commitment this morning from former Stetson University center Aubin Gateretse. Gateretse is a 6 foot 11 215-pound senior transfer who has one season of eligibility remaining with a redshirt season available if he needs it. He will join the Aggies for the 2024-25 season. Gateretse committed to the Aggies just two days after his official visit to the Utah State campus. Gateretse played his first three seasons of his career at Stetson University and came into his own as a junior averaging 11.0 points per game while shooting an incredible 71.2% from the field, 50.0% from behind the three-point line, and 62.0% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 7.6 rebounds, handed out 0.8 assists, and swatted 1.5 shots per game. Once he entered the transfer portal, Gateretse became a popular player pulling in offers 40+ offers and chose the Aggies from a list of seven final schools that included DePaul, Florida, George Washington, Nevada, Saint Joseph’s, and Santa Barbara. Gateretse is the second commitment of the Jerrod Calhoun era at Utah State, joining Queens University of Charlotte combo guard Deyton Albury.
