Utah State has received a verbal commitment from University of New Mexico safety Noah Avinger. Avinger is 6-foot-0 186 pounds and will enter spring ball as a senior and spend his final season of eligibility at Utah State.

In his only season with the Lobos, Avinger started in all 12 games and recorded 91 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, 1 interception, 5 pass breakups, and 1 fumble recovery.

According to 247sports coming out of Servite High (CA), Avinger was rated as the 600th-best player nationally, the 43rd-best cornerback, and the 47th-best prospect overall in California. He began his collegiate career at San Diego State. He originally held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, boise state, Boston College, byu, Colorado State, Kansas, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, UNLV, utah, Utah State, and Washington State. It appears that Utah State is his only offer out of the transfer portal this time around.
