Utah State picked up a verbal commitment last night from former Vanderbilt University WING MJ Collins. Collins is a 6-foot-5, 190-pound senior who will use his final season of eligibility when he joins the Aggies for the 2025-26 season. Collins committed to the Aggies just days after his official visit to the Utah State campus last Wednesday.
Last season, Collins saw action in 32 games with 1 start and averaged 7.4 points per game while shooting 42.0% from the field, 29.3% from behind the three-point line, and 72.9% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 2.3 rebounds, handed out 0.5 assists, and swiped 0.6 steals per game.
During his 3-year career with the Commodores and Virginia Tech, Collins played in 98 games with 45 starts, and averaged 6.3 points per game while shooting 37.0% from the field, 28.1% from behind the three-point line, and 78.4% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 2.5 rebounds, handed out 1.6 assists, and swiped 0.6 steals per game.
According to 247sports, coming out of Westminster Catawba Christian High School (SC), Collins was rated as the 186th-best player nationally, the 24th-best combo guard, and the 3rd-best player in the State of South Carolina. He originally held offers from Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Clemson, Murray State, Presbyterian, Radford, Virginia Tech, Wofford, and Xavier. Collins chose the Aggies over offers from Charlotte, Duquesne, Georgia, Georgia Tech, DePaul, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Collins is the third commitment of the Aggies’ 2025 spring recruiting cycle, joining Texas A&M-Corpus Christi forward Garry Clark and university of utah forward Zach Keller.
