Utah State picked up a verbal commitment tonight from former Butler University guard Kolby King. King is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior who will use his final season of eligibility when he joins the Aggies for the 2025-26 season. King committed to the Aggies just days after his official visit to the Utah State campus last Saturday.
Last season, King saw action in 34 games with 4 starts and averaged 5.6 points per game while shooting 44.1% from the field, 40.0% from behind the three-point line, and 70.0% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 3.9 rebounds, handed out 1.7 assists, and swiped 0.6 steals per game.
During his 3-year career with the Bulldogs, Tulane University, and Saint John’s University, King played in 91 games with 27 starts, and averaged 6.1 points per game while shooting 44.4% from the field, 37.7% from behind the three-point line, and 72.4% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 3.0 rebounds, handed out 1.4 assists, and swiped 0.7 steals per game.
According to 247sports, coming out of Pembroke Pines Charter School (FL), King was rated as the 266th-best player nationally, the 46th-best point guard, and the 26th-best player in the State of Florida. He originally held offers from Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State, Murray State, Saint John’s, and Texas Tech. At the time of his commitment, it is unclear what other schools had shown interest in King.
King is the fourth commitment of the Aggies’ 2025 spring recruiting cycle, joining Texas A&M-Corpus Christi forward Garry Clark, university of utah forward Zach Keller, and Vanderbilt University WING MJ Collins.
