Utah State has received a verbal commitment from Horizon High School (AZ) wide receiver James Klopfenstein. Klopfenstein is 6-foot-0, 180 pounds, and he will join the team in 2027. Klopfenstein is currently on his official visit to the Utah State campus.

As a junior last season with the Huskies, Klopfenstein played in 13 games with 13 starts and snared 42 passes for 568 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also logged 50 carries for 271 yards and 11 touchdowns. His squad finished with a 10-3 record and a trip to the semi-final round of the 5A Arizona State Playoffs.

According to On3sports, Flopfenstein is rated as the 1,912th-best player nationally, the 232nd-best wide receiver, and the 49th-best player in Arizona. Klopfenstein chose the Aggies over offers from Air Force, Army, Cornell, Idaho State, Illinois State, Navy, Nevada, Northern Arizona, Oregon State, and Washington State.

Klopfenstein is the Aggies fourth commitment for the Aggies recruiting class of 2027, joining Cedar Falls High (IA) linebacker Brayden Hanks and Green Canyon High (UT) offensive tackle Dakota Calverley, and Westlake High (UT) wide receiver Malik Sika.
