2026-27 OUTLOOK

DALLIN HALL

Dallin Hall is a transfer from the University of Virginia who will enter the 2026-27 season as a graduate senior and use his final season of eligibility with the Aggies.

As a senior with the Cavaliers last season, Hall played in 36 games with 36 starts and averaged 5.9 points per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the floor, 32.0 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 81.3 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 3.6 boards, 4.4 assists, and 0.9 steals.

During his 4-year career with the University of Virginia and at byu, Hall has played in 136 games with 97 starts and averaged 7.3 points per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the floor, 35.0 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 67.6 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 2.8 boards, 4.2 assists, and 0.8 steals.

According to On3 Sports, once Hall entered the transfer portal, he was rated as the 228th-best transfer player nationally and the 37th-best point guard. Hall chose the Aggies over offers from byu, Iowa State, Kansas St, Utah Valley, Weber State, and others. He originally held offers from Bryant, byu, Idaho State, Oregon State, Saint Mary’s, Utah State, Utah Valley, and Weber State.

Hall is a floor general in every sense of the phrase. He is a pass-first point guard who has seen action in big-time situations. He can run the pick-and-roll to near perfection, and his experience really shines through in quick decision-making opportunities. He has the ability to see the floor and anticipate things before they happen, consistently putting his teammates in a position to succeed. He doesn’t need to chuck up shots to score a lot of points. He consistently shoots the ball well from all levels on the floor, hitting for solid percentages from the floor and three-point land. He boasts a good fallaway jumper and can use his size to post up and back down smaller guards. He has an excellent physical frame for a true point guard, and his size allows him to see over defenses, handle physical coverage, and contribute heavily on the glass. He has an exceptional basketball IQ, gives a high defensive effort, and gives the Aggies a steady veteran presence. He doesn’t need to score to dominate a game.

AJ BATES

AJ Bates is a transfer from Louisiana Tech University who will enter the 2026-27 season as a junior with three years of eligibility remaining due to the NCAA 5-years-to-play-5 ruling.

As a sophomore with the Bulldogs last season, Bates played in 34 games with 34 starts and averaged 12.1 points per game while shooting 37.0 percent from the floor, 27.7 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 78.3 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 2.8 boards, 5.9 assists, and 1.2 steals.

During his 2-year career with Louisiana Tech University, Bates has played in 63 games with 38 starts and averaged 8.6 points per game while shooting 38.4 percent from the floor, 28.7 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 75.1 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 2.4 boards, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals.

According to 247Sports, once Bates entered the transfer portal, he was rated as the 376th-best transfer player nationally and the 69th-best point guard. Hall chose the Aggies over offers from Ohio, Richmond, Temple, Texas A&M, Texas State, UCLA, and UTEP. He originally held offers from George Mason, Lamar, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, and Texas-Rio Grande.

Bates has very good size and strength for a point guard. He is an incredible passer, with both floor vision and ability. His floor vision covers the entire court, forcing his teammates to keep their eyes on him at all times or risk getting thumped with a pass they didn’t think he could make. He does an effective job of manipulating the defense, drawing them to him, to create an open pass for an easy dunk. Simply put, He reads defenses and then makes the right play. He’s been a three-level scorer both years of his collegiate career. He is an off-the-bounce creator who can use his size to bully opposing players to get into the paint, where he can take an effective step-back jumper or continue to the basket and finish at the rim. He connects from the free-throw line at a solid clip. Although his career percentages do not reflect that he scores at an effective percentage, I believe his shooting accuracy will rise at Utah State because he will no longer be a first or second scoring option, which will allow him to take easier shots feeding off others, as opposed to having to constantly create for himself. He gives the Aggies everything they want; he can pass, he can score, he can defend, and he can lead.

ACE REISER

Ace Reiser is a transfer from the College of Southern Idaho who will enter the 2026-27 season as a sophomore and with four years of eligibility remaining due to the NCAA 5-years-to-play-5 ruling.

As a true freshman with the Golden Eagles last season, Reiser played in 37 games with 37 starts and averaged 15.1 points per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the floor, 46.0 percent from behind the 3-point line and he shot 81.1 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 5.1 boards, 3.9 assists, and 2.4 steals.

During his 4-year high school career at Alta High School (UT), Reiser played in 63 games with 49 starts and averaged 9.6 points per game while shooting 48.0 percent from the floor, 39.0 percent from behind the 3-point line and he shot 81.0 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 2.7 boards, 4.1 assists, and 1.3 steals.

According to the Resource Nexus JUCO Player Rankings, Reiser was rated as the 7th-best junior college player nationally and the 6th-best junior college point guard. Reiser chose the Aggies over an offer from Idaho. He originally held offers from College of Southern Idaho (ID), Salt Lake Community College (UT), Snow Junior College (UT), and Westminster.

First and foremost, Reiser was named a first-team NJCAA All-American following his true freshman season. For a kid just coming off serving a church mission, that’s a pretty impressive feat. He may not be in the same pure passer category as a couple of his teammates, but he does have good court vision as evidenced by his assist numbers, and that proves he is more than capable of making good decisions and dishing the ball at the right time. He is an elite three-point shooter and can knock down shots off the dribble, coming off a screen, in the pick-and-roll, or catch-and-shoot. He is able to score with an array of offensive moves, floaters, runners, and fall-away jumpers. He plays with control and makes good decisions. He is a tough rebounder for his size. He does a really good job of doing the best with what he’s got. He is good at finding positioning for rebounds. He will use his low center of gravity to box out, but he is also good at anticipating where a long rebound may land. His quickness keeps him in front of defenders, and he works hard to keep his man from getting an easy driving lane. He seems to be a great fit with the Aggies and can carve out a role as a scorer off the bench who will still be very capable of running the offense as a point guard.
