2026-27 OUTLOOK

SOLOMON CALLAGHAN

Solomon Callaghan is a transfer from Wright State University who will enter the 2026-27 season as a junior with three years of eligibility remaining due to the NCAA 5-years-to-play-5 ruling.

As a sophomore with the Raiders last season, Callaghan saw action in 33 games with 31 starts and averaged 10.2 points per game while shooting 41.7% from the field, 39.9% from behind the three-point line, and 92.6% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 1.9 rebounds, handed out 1.1 assists, and swiped 0.5 steals per game.

During his 2-year career with Wright State University, Callaghan played in 65 games with 42 starts, and averaged 8.4 points per game while shooting 41.2% from the field, 38.7% from behind the three-point line, and 88.1% at the free-throw stripe. He also pulled in 1.7 rebounds, handed out 1.2 assists, and swiped 0.4 steals per game.

It appears that Utah State was Callaghan’s first offer in the transfer portal, and he committed not long after his official visit. He originally held offers from Akron, Ashland, Cedarville, Ferris State, Findlay, Hillsdale State, Nova Southeastern University, Walsh, and Youngstown State.

Callaghan is another highly efficient, deadly perimeter scorer who will have opposing defenses scrambling. His role has primarily been as an off-the ball perimeter sharp shooter. What makes him so dangerous is his high basketball IQ and his off-the ball movement. His understanding of spacing, navigating the baseline, and then relocating himself if a play breaksdown, leads to him find wide open catch-and-shoot opportunities. He excels at utilizing screens to step back into mid-range jumpers or pull up from deep when defenders go under. His lightning-quick release and precision on the three-ball, make him a threat to shoot at any moment. He can create his own shot and he’s able to mix things up by getting to the rim or pulling up from mid-range. He is an elite free throw shooter. He doesn’t rack up a lot of assists but he is smart with the basketball in his hands and maintains an excellent turnover-to-assist ratio. On the defensive end of the floor, he will give you everything he’s got. He provides good help defense out on the perimeter. He isn’t afraid of contact and willing boxes-out anybody he can get his body on. He also tracks the ball well once it is in the air and will always be in the mix to hunt down a loose ball or rebound.

BRAYDEN BOE

Redshirt freshman Brayden Boe has been waiting to breakout and his time is now.

During his lone season as an Aggie, Boe spent the 2025-26 season utilitzing his redshirt year.

Boe attended Dream City Christian Prep (AZ), where he helped the Eagles to a 24–10 record as a senior. As a junior and a sophomore at Mountainside High School (OR), he was a two-time Metro League Player of the Year and a First-Team 6A All-State selection. At press time, there are no statistics available during his high school career.

According to ESPN.com coming out of Dream City Christian High (AZ), Boe was rated as the 38th-best shooting gaurd nationally, and the 2nd-best player in his homestate of Oregon. He chose the Aggies over offers from boise state, Montana, Portland, Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Weber State.

I would describe Boe as a “combo guard”. He possesses excellent positional size for a guard. He has three-level scoring ability. He is a natural shooter who can knock down shots from beyond the 3-point line on catch-and-shoot opportunitites by using a pump fake to allow his defender to fly by, as he takes one dribble and then lets the ball fly. He can also hit from downtown immediately off the dribble. He has a smooth release and has shown high efficiency when operating in the midrange or pulling up in transition. Once he has the ball in his hands, his patience is a virtue, as he waits for on ball screens to free him up and allow him to make a move to the basket. He does a good job of moving without the ball, reading the defense and knowing when to slash to the basket. Once he gets there is has enough body control, creativity, and strength to finish at the hoop. He has also developed a deadly fall-away jumper. He has an above-average court sense and is able to distribute the ball like a point guard would but not quite at the frequency as a point guard. He sees the floor well and often makes the correct read on the offensive end, which allows him to make the neccessary pass. He rebounds well for a guard. He is exceptional at tracking a ball in the air and anticipating where the ball will carom off to. He will battle underneath the hoop and is willing to take a beating boxing out larger players.

JORDAN BOYD

True freshman Jordan Boyd joins the Aggies and will add depth to the position this year.

As a senior at De Smet Jesuit High School (MO) last year, Boyd averaged 15.1 points and 6.7 rebounds while leading the Spartans to a 27-5 record and a Missouri Class 6 state championship.

During his 4-year career at De Smet Jesuit High School (MO), Boyd boasts a Missouri Class 5 state championship in 2024 and a Missouri Class 6 state championship in 2026. He scored 1,114 career points and 551 career boards. He was a two-time All-State and All-District selection. He was named the 2026 MBCA Class 6 Player of the Year. Over the final three seasons of his career, he led the Spartans to a 75-14 combined record.

Boyd initially signed with Coach Jacobson and his University of Northern Iowa squad. Once Coach Jacobson accepted the Utah State gig, Boyd asked for and was granted his release from Northern Iowa and followed Coach Jacobson to Logan. Boyd originally held offers from Eastern Illinois, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Miami (OH), North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Southeast Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and Valparaiso.

Boyd is a winner is always a big part of his teams success. For a high school product, Boyd is a fairly polished scorer. He can hit the three-ball for a high percentage and he can do it off-the dribble, coming of a screen, or in catch-and-shoot scenarios. He has shown offensive awareness by knowing when to take the ball to the rim and when to defer to a pull up jumper or a floater in the lane. He likes to use his size to his advantage and will back down opposing guards into the post, where he like to take a fall-away jumper. He is strong enough to finish well around the rim and through contact in the lane. He shoots at a high clip from the charity stripe. He has a high basketball IQ and steady control of the floor and has a sense of maturity about his game that is rare in true freshmen. He is an underrated passer with the court vision to look over crashing defenses and find open teammates. He plays a fearless brand of defense, as he is willing to take charges. He is willing to guard the best player on the floor. He uses his size to his advantage and will crash the glass with aggression.
