Utah State picked up a verbal commitment this afternoon from American River Community College (CA) EDGE rush defensive end Cian Slone. Slone was in Logan on his official visit during the weekend of November 18th and witnessed firsthand the Aggies 35-31 bowl eligibility-clinching win over San Jose State. Slone is a 6 foot 3 222-pound redshirt freshman and he will join the Aggies for the 2023 season and enroll in time for spring football. He will have three years to complete his final three seasons of eligibility. Slone had a standout season for the Beavers logging 81 tackles and 21.5 tackles for loss, 12.0 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. For his effort, he was named the NorCal Conference Defensive MVP. At the time of his commitment, Slone held offers from Hawaii, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Northwestern State, Portland State, Stephen F. Austin, Toledo, and UC-Davis. Slone takes the field this Saturday as the Beavers face San Mateo Community College (CA) in the CCCAA Northern California Championship game.
