2025-26 OUTLOOK
MASON FALSLEV
Junior Mason Falslev returns this season and has cemented himself as one of the premier players in the Mountain West Conference.
As a sophomore last season, Falslev started in all 34 games for the Aggies and averaged 15.0 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the floor, 39.0 percent from behind the 3-point line, and he shot 57.9 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 6.3 boards, 3.7 assists, and 2.3 steals.
During his 2-year career with the Aggies, Falslev has played 68 games with 68 starts and averaged 13.1 points per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor, 35.8 percent from behind the 3-point line and he shot 60.3 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 5.4 boards, 3.0 assists, and 1.8 steals.
According to On3 sports coming out of Sky View High (UT), Falslev was rated as the 245th-best player nationally, the 46th-best shooting gaurd, and the 5th-best prospect overall in Utah. He originally signed with the university of utah prior to serving an LDS Church mission.
Falslev is a very gifted basketball player. He possesses a good frame, impressive athleticism, and a great deal of talent. He was clearly the most talented player on the floor and impacted the game at the high school level in many ways. He is a good defender and has the traits to be a really good one. He has good size and length, plus his athleticism allows him to put pressure on ball handlers. A naturally gifted and willing passer, he was constantly looking for the open man and threw a variety of passes at varying angles and speeds to hit his target. He anticipates passing opportunities as well. He is a good athlete who is probably best described as effortless in his movement traits. He can absolutely explode off the floor with an impressive vertical jump. His infectious attitude positively translates to his teammates on and off the floor. He is a leader in every sense of the word.
KOLBY KING
Kolby King is a transfer from Butler University who will enter the 2025-26 season as a senior and use his final season of eligibility with the Aggies. He does have a redshirt season available if needed.
As a junior last season, King started in 4 of 34 games for the Bulldogs and averaged 5.6 points per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the floor, 40.0 percent from behind the 3-point line, and he shot 70.0 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 3.9 boards, 1.7 assists, and 0.6 steals.
During his 3-year career at Butler University, Univerity of Tulane, and Saint John’s University, King has started in 27 of 91 games and averaged 6.1 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor, 37.7 percent from behind the 3-point line and he shot 72.4 percent at the free-throw line. He averaged 3.0 boards, 1.4 assists, and 0.7 steals.
According to On3 sports once King entered the transfer portal he was rated as the 326th-best transfer player nationally and the 67th-best point gaurd. After entering the transfer portal, it’s unknown which schools had offered King. Coming out of high school, he originally held offers from Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State, Murray State, Saint John’s, and Texas Tech.
On the offensive side of the floor, King is in attack mode all the time. Quickness is a huge strength for him, and he can put his defender on roller skates in a couple of dribbles as he makes his way to the rim. Once he arrives in the paint, he can do three different things with the ball: he can continue his way to the rim, where his strong vertical jump helps him finish very well at the rim, he can pull up in the lane for a quick jumper, or he can dish to a teammate for an open corner three-ball. King is a respectable spot-up shooter at the 3-point line, and he can shoot it off the dribble and when he catches and shoots. His speed makes his a dangerous player in transition, as he pushes the ball up the floor. I think his assist numbers will improve simply because he has better players at his disposal here at Utah State. What intrigues me most is King seems to have the potential and the athletic ability to become a very good defender. To achieve that status, it is something he will have to want to do. I think the competition for playing time here at Utah State will be a driving factor in King stepping up his game.
BRAYDEN BOE
Adding depth at the position is true freshman Brayden Boe.
At press time, there are no statistics available for Boe during his high school career.
According to ESPN.com coming out of Dream City Christian High (AZ), Boe was rated as the 38th-best shooting gaurd nationally, and the 2nd-best prospect overall in his home state of Oregon. He chose the Aggies over offers from boise state, Montana, Portland, Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Weber State.
I would describe Boe as a “combo guard”. He has an above-average court sense and can distribute the ball like a point guard would, but not quite at the frequency of a point guard. He sees the floor well and often makes the correct read on the offensive end, which allows him to make the necessary pass. Once he has the ball in his hands, his patience is a virtue, as he waits for on-ball screens to free him up and allow him to make a move to the basket. Once he gets there, is has enough body control, creativity, and strength to finish at the hoop. He does a good job of moving without the ball, reading the defense, and knowing when to slash to the basket. Boe has been developing his shot from beyond the 3-point line by working on his catch-and-shoot and using a pump fake to allow his defender to fly by, as he takes one dribble and then lets the ball fly.
