This is the 15th article in a series previewing each team and position rankings in the Mountain West leading up to the 2024-2025 basketball season.
This a review of the top 5 shooting guards in the Mountain West.
Top 5 Shooting Guards:
- Ian Martinez (Utah State, Senior): After transferring from Maryland, Martinez averaged 13 ppg and was named Honorable Mention All MW. Ian will be a key part of USU’s offense this year and expect his offense to continue to expand. He is one of the top athletes in the MW.
- Kobe Sanders (Nevada, Senior): Sanders averaged close to 20 ppg last year at Cal Poly which earned him All Big West honors. Sanders has NBA size standing at 6’8″ and can play multiple positions.
- Mason Falslev (Utah State, Sophomore): Mason burst on to the scene as a freshman and averaged 11 ppg and was one of the top freshman in the MW last year. His ability to get to the hoop and finish helped him shoot an outstanding 56%. Mason also is very good defensively averaging 1.25 steals per game last year.
- Nick Boyd (San Diego State, Senior): Boyd was a part time starter for a really good FAU last year and averaged 9 ppg. Boyd can also play the point guard position.
- Josh Uduje (San Jose State, Senior): The Co-MW 6th man of the year at Utah State transferred to SJSU to be in more of a feature role. Look to him to be one of the top options offensively for the Spartans this year.
Next 5 Up: Jailen Bedford (UNLV), Tru Washington (New Mexico), CJ Noland (New Mexico), Xavier DuSell (Nevada), Keshawn Williams (Colorado State)
